In the process of exploring “Talking color”, I chose DLR line as the theme. At the first time I took the train, I felt surprised by it fresh colour and unique design, this train connect Canary Wharf and the City of London, which would cross some branches of River Thames. As soon as I sat on the coach, I realized it is different from other tube, and it made me thought that it might had relationship with “water” because of its blue decoration. The first thing that attracted me is the glaring and colourful light inside the coach, the bright blue become the main colour and the yellow lights are mixed with it, which created a sense of illusion, it seems like a dreamy train that I watched in “Night on the Galactic Railroad”. Therefore, I used water soluble crayon and water colour to draw the complicated light at the beginning, but I found it is too hazy.Instead of water-soluble crayon, then I used colour pencil and colour pen as one of the main tools to add more details.
Overall, after I finished my drawing, I basically satisfied with the whole visual effect, especially the colour I mixed in this painting, for example, the yellow pencil scripts which on the upside of blue water colour. In addition, the pattern I changed from seats is also one of my favorites, I exaggerated the shape of wave to make it looks more appealing. I also used some yellow and black wavy lines to imitate the vivid views from the outside of windows.
However, I realized what I lacked in this project as well. When I compared my works with other classmates, I found they used so many different tools to show their observation, in comparison, the categories of drawing method I used are monotonous.
