Reflection writing:
In the beginning, I have no idea what to draw for the first assignment of this new term. It took me a long time to figure out what to draw, and other people have posted some excellent drawings that gave me some direction on what to draw. I take many photos on my phone during summer vacation. In these photos are street scenes of Shanghai, the ancient temples in the city centre, my closet and my two lovely cats at home.
Because task one’s name is talking colour, I tried to use as many colours as possible, some with harmonious tones. Still, I also use paintings from entirely different colour palettes. The first project felt less related to the print-related content and more like the opening of a new course. Watercolour is one of my favourite drawing tools; I use it a lot in this task. Besides, I also like to draw in digital drawing because there are too many effect brushes in the digital picture that I can try. For example, the drawing about my wardrobe is a very typical digital drawing, and this one uses very bright colours.
Task two is not related to task one, but the pattern is also from my other photo taken to record my life.I only created most of the patterns once, but I inspired one pattern from temple decorations that I like, so I used the same pattern for multiple creations, want to see this pattern enlarged on a flat surface or What shrinking looks like.
I spent a lot of time creating the two small projects this time, and I enjoyed the whole painting process, but there are works that I don’t like, so I can avoid using the same technique next time.
