I used watercolour paints to explore the colours within a sliced lime, over a pastel pink background. A slightly abstract response to a flower market using oil pastels. This is a more detailed watercolour painting of a papaya.A response to graffiti which I photographed on the side of a tube as Shepards bush. This is an abstract painting which reflects an accidental photograph I took of dirt while I was photographing nature. I used watercolour and fineliner to respond to the picture. Abstract acrylic response to tulips
I want to start by saying I really like all the artworks you have done for both Tasks and especially enjoy the fact that they all seem interconnected by color scheme and theme. In the Talking Color task, there seems to be a consistent theme of nature and most observational drawings are from fruits and consist of vivid and joyful colors, which I love. Various techniques appear to be used, from more abstract paintings to detailed depictions of fruits, as well as different media like acrylics and pastels. There is a sense of fluidity and movement throughout all the artworks, produced by the bright colors and distinct marks and textures existing in the paintings. The only thing that I think should have been added would be some more variety in inspiration, like maybe an observational drawing of a place or of a building. For the Talking Patterns task, there is a clear connection to Task 1. Each of the patterns is kind of connected to a drawing from Task 1 and their connection is quite self-explanatory and mostly clear. I especially like the first two abstract patterns created that kind of remind me of doodles or scales in a way. Again there is a variety of media used and techniques from mark-making to digital work. Furthermore, I really like the size play that has been done with some patterns, for example with the acorns one of there is a play of scale. Again the only improvement I could think of would either be adding some more patterns from other things that don’t have to do with nature and fruit, as well as adding small captions under each drawing to explain what it depicts and from what it is made.
